How do I buy original art?

You can find and buy my work here on my website, at my studio, locally at Art on 30th in San Diego or through one of my online galleries: Artfinder.com, FineArtAmerica.com, and Saatchiart.com.

I launch three new collections each year: "Spring" in March, "Summer" in June and "Fall" in November.

I create as many paintings as possible and like to showcase work during my Open Studio Weekends, giving my studio visitors the first chance to view my work and get a glimpse into my process.

My studio is open every weekend Fridays from 2pm-6pm and Sat & Sun from 11am-4pm at the Bernardo Winery in San Diego and are well advertised beforehand via Instagram, my blog, or my email newsletter.

My original art tends to sell quickly, with few being more than 12 months old, so you'll want to buy your favorites as soon as possible. There’s a saying about buying original art that rings true:

“If you love it, buy it. Right then and there. It’s the only one like it so when it's gone—it's gone." - Kate Ashton

Can I commission a custom piece of art?

Currently, I am not accepting commissions so I can build my ready-to-sell art inventory for my collectors and so I can follow my creative path naturally. If this ever changes, I'll be announcing it to my email list first, so be sure to subscribe to those emails. You can sign up here.

Can I request a reproduction of a sold original?

Currently, I am only focusing on producing and selling original, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. If this ever changes, I'll be announcing it to my email list first, so be sure to subscribe to those emails. You can sign up here.

Do I need to have the piece framed?

If you ordered art that is on deep-wrap stretched canvas, the depth is substantial enough and nothing further is needed. If you want to frame anyway, a floater frame could give a nice, modern appeal.

If you order art that is on unstretched canvas, you can choose to have it framed flat, mounted onto a deep cradled wood panel, or have it re-stretched onto 1.5” deep bars, back to its original structure. Consult with your local framer for ideas.

If you ordered art on cradled wood panel, the depth is substantial enough and nothing further is needed. If the natural wood on the sides were protected and not painted over, it will appear as if it is already framed.

Do you work on raw canvas?

Yes and no...some artists will begin working directly on raw canvas with no preparations and no sealants afterwards. I have my canvases custom made for me with no white gesso applied. This gives me the option to make my own tinted gesso or to use a clear gesso so the canvas is still prepped for painting but still reveals the fun appearance of raw canvas. The toothy texture of the pieces that look like raw canvas lets you know that it's been gessoed, it doesn't feel like soft fabric anymore.

I also seal all my works with a permanent, archival spray fixative to prevent smudging keep the natural look of the materials (no gloss).

Will my art come ready to hang?

Stretched canvas art or art made on wood panels will come signed, sealed, wired, and ready to hang.

Unstretched canvas art or art on paper will come signed and sealed but NOT ready to hang. It will need to be re-stretched or framed. You'll want to talk with your local framer about which options are available to make your art ready to hang.

Is it safe for my canvas art to be stretched?

Yes, it is a very common industry practice for artists to ship large or oversized canvas art unstretched, with the canvas rolled in a tube for safe and affordable shipping, and for the buyer to arrange for the art to be properly re-stretched onto bars for hanging. Taking the art off the bars allows me to offer affordable shipping on sizes over 36" and to ship your art safely with little to no risk of damage.

Re-stretching canvas art is not covered in the purchase price, which is set for only the art itself, and is the responsibility of the buyer.

How is my art going to be shipped?

Each order is packed with care and professionalism so that it arrives undamaged, I am accustomed to Saatchi’s shipping guidelines and use them as my standard.

• Art on Stretched Canvas or Wood Panel:

All stretched artwork is wrapped in glassine tissue with cardboard corners, wrapped in plastic to protect against weather and moisture, appropriately padded, and sent in a well-fitting and sturdy cardboard box or wooden crate. Both methods will be marked “Fragile - Fine Art” on the outside. Most stretched art will ship via FedEx Ground and most packages arrive within 2-4 days (within the US) from time of shipping (includes tracking and insurance).

• Art on Unstretched Canvas (art over 36”):

All unstretched artwork is sandwiched between two layers of glassine tissue, wrapped in plastic to protect against weather and moisture, appropriately padded, and sent in a PVC pipe marked “Fragile - Fine Art” on the outside. Most unstretched art will ship via FedEx Ground and most packages arrive within 2-4 days (within the US) from time of shipping (includes tracking and insurance).

• Art on Paper:

All art crated on paper are handled with the utmost care, packaged beautifully in paper or plastic sleeve. If it is smaller than 11x14 then it is mailed in a sturdy flat mailer while art larger than 16x20 will be mailed in a thick tube. Both methods will be marked “Fragile - Fine Art” on the outside. Most art on paper will be shipped via USPS 1st Class Mail or Priority Mail (usually arrives within 1-3 days within the US).

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, I am only offering international shipping to Canada, UK, Australia, and Germany. Fees are calculated at checkout.

Can I pickup my art at your studio?

Definitely! In fact, I think this is the most fun and safest way to receive your art. You’ll get to see where it was created, discover more about the process of how it was made, and meet the artist. Simply select Local Pickup at checkout and we will work out a day and time to meet.

Can you delivery my art to my house?

For any online order being sent to those living in either San Diego, Orange, or Los Angeles counties—yes, yes, and yes! I’d much rather safely pack and deliver your art in-person than to ship it. Simply choose Local Delivery at checkout to signal me to not ship your art and we will work out a day and time to meet. Cost is $100 for addresses located in these three counties.

Who actually owns the art?

I retain all rights to all artwork I create, including any sold or custom art. The buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.

If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit (and my congratulations to you because this means your home is super beautiful!).

If you are taking one of the classes I teach at Art on 30th, please reach out to them directly if you have any questions or issues. They handle all registrations, student communications, and class policies. I am not able to dictate what to charge or refund, it is their class, their pricing, and their policies. You can contact Art on 30th here.

Art on 30th offers make up slips, one per 5-week class session. Simply ask the AO3 front desk assistant for one upon your return to class and it will be good for 30 days from issuance to be used in any other AO3 5-week class. NOTE: you will need to call ahead to see if there is room for you as some classes are full, to make the instructor aware that you’re coming, and to get a supply list for that lesson.

Artwork Returns

You can request a refund 7 days from the delivery date and it will be processed once the item has been returned to me in good, sellable condition. Buyers are responsible for any and all return shipping fees.

Please take the time to read descriptions carefully and check the colors on different screens if you are concerned about color variations. Screens by nature, will showcase colors differently based on each device’s settings and capabilities. I try my best to represent the colors and tones in my art honestly and clearly.

Upon request, I’d be more than happy to send a video filmed in natural daylight if you need another perspective to help you make a purchasing decision.

I want to be sure that you are happy with your art purchase! Please contact me within 7 days of the delivery date to share your concerns and we will work towards a solution together.

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, your PayPal account, or your ShopPay account, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact me.

Local Delivery is only available for online orders over $199 and to addresses within San Diego, Orange, or Los Angeles counties.
